Dear Florida GMC Family,

As you have no doubt seen, our brothers and sisters in Central Texas have experienced devastating floods. As of the writing of this letter, over 100 people have died, including 28 children. Many more are still missing. Entire homes and businesses have been wiped away. People are hurting.

After Hurricanes Helene and Milton last year, multiple annual conferences took special offerings for Florida. Because of those offerings, we were able to distribute about $500,000 in disaster response money to Faith Responders and directly to Florida GMC churches. It’s one more strength of our connection. We stand shoulder to shoulder with one another when trouble comes.

The Cabinet of the Florida Conference is calling upon all Florida GMC members to consider making a special offering to help our friends in the MidTexas Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church. They have already mobilized in helping people and are working with On Mission Network. We will forward every dollar you give directly to the MidTexas Conference to aid in their efforts.

We invite churches to consider taking a special offering this weekend. You can also give electronically by going to our website, www.floridagmc.org, and clicking on “Donate Now.” On the drop-down menu, select “disaster relief.” Checks made payable to the Florida Conference can be mailed to our Conference address: 11250 Old St. Augustine Road, Suite 15-114, Jacksonville, Florida 32257. Again, we will ensure all this money goes directly to the MidTexas Conference.

When we were in need, our brothers and sisters came to our aid. Now it’s our turn. Thank you for prayerfully considering helping our dear friends.
